Welcome to the City Museum!

Visit the museum and learn about the historical development of the city of Aue-Bad Schlema through exciting exhibits.

Historical artifacts document ore mining in our region and offer an insight into the working and living environment of the miners. In the show tunnel, which is located directly in the museum building, you can immerse yourself in the world of mining.

Originally designed as a museum of regional ore mining, the facility was given a new profile in 1990. The City Museum emerged from the mining museum "Traditionsstätte Erzbergbau" (Traditional site) created in 1973.

The museum is located in a former, structurally modified pithead building near the Heidelsberg. The building was built in its original form in the early years of the Auer tin mining industry, which began in 1661 and came to a halt around 1810. There are parking spaces available in front of the museum. The museum can also be reached via a short walk from the city center in the direction of St. Nikolai Church.
